I'm still sticking with 7. If it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto. What could I do with 10 that I can't do with 7? And would I want to do it anyway?

Is it any better than 7 though? This is the problem I have found over the years. Each successive version has required a faster computer, more memory, and has taken up more and more space on the hard drive. And for what? I remember Windows 3.1. It has seemed like a "dog chasing its tail" syndrome. Each new edition has required a better computer, or it wouldn't run. My old Windows 3.1 computer was perfectly usable in its time, and not really much slower than my current laptop, which is infinitely more powerful. I have often wondered how much better each "new, improved" version of Windows really was. My Win 7 computers are a little more stable than my Win XP one, but then my Win XP ones weren't bad, and I don't remember any really significant problems with my Win 3.1 computer either. Apart from those file names!
The file length name was only fixed when win2000 came along and the move away from FAT32. As I have said before, I have never had a bsod on win10. A good Linux distro beats them all apart from gaming. I have a computer running xp ( not internet connected) for any games I have but I haven't done anything like that for about a year.
A lot of changes with computers go relatively unnoticed, or at least, the older versions are forgotten. I am sure many can remember the old dial up internet costing a penny a minute on the phone bill. I ended up with a massive bill on one occasion. Then the packages arrived and we had 'free' and unlimited access to the internet but it was still a painfully slow until broadband arrived. I am now on fibre and remember it was like an express train when I first got it but although the speed hasn't changed it still seems slow at times...difficult to remember how slow it must have been in days gone by and all the drop outs etc. It must have been really bad but we thought it was ok at the time.
The same with Windows...new versions arrive and now we get automatic updates without even realising it and forget how awful the older versions must have been although they seemed ok at the time.
The biggest advantage of Windows 10 is the automatic updates.. although they are a pain in the backside at times items the computer is more secure to viruses and Trojans.. as we have just found out at work where the Windows 7 Pcs for infected.. deactivated the license and then let other new ones in that most anti virus packages could not yet detect.
Windows 10 is better than 7 if you consider support and security a necessity, you will still be able to get it for 7 for a couple of years before you have to pay for updates.
