Who said anything about driving schools? Learners drive them because they are cheap go karts and dents can only improve their looks. Once they pass their test they get a real car and sell their micra to another learner. Horrible things.

The Gardai over here use i40 estates. The one I have is the premium spec. Officially not available in Ireland. I have yet to see how it lugs he camping gear. The ceed sw had beefed ip rear suspension and rode higher. The i40 is quite low which is worrying.

It gets better, the flap closest to the rear hides a compartment that holds several champagne bottles and the side ones fit beer cans. Someone in the design team did some careful measuring!

We hired one and drove it to Scotland and back full of camping gear and several cases of wine left over from our friends wedding (everyone else flew to Scotland). Didn't have any issues with it being too low, not even sure it grounded leaving our stupidly inclined drive (which the Mondeo we had this time did). It was a really nice drive and we now regularly request the i30 or i40 if we're doing longer journeys.

The i40 also had a hidden compartment under the boot liner, it would take over a crate of wine! (Not that we had to get inventive when asked to add several cases of wine to our usual camping gear)
