Seriously the most useless organization on the planet. Cannot get through on the phone - use web chat.
Fill in the web chat form - no one available.
2 weeks solid of trying. Should be shut down. Incompetent doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Like everything else though quick enough to take your money though l, always manage to do that.
My own experiences with DVLA have been positive, therefore, until I know more about what the OP has been trying to do/achieve, I cannot comment.

Dealing with routine stuff I have always found them fine, but a couple of years back when I tried to renew my PSV (PCV) licence I threw them into a panic. I'd admitted on the form to having had an exploratory angiogram during the previous year and that set the alarm bells ringing. The fact that it had revealed nothing untoward meant nothing to them. I had to send them details of my GP and the consultant cardiologist, and numerous letters went back and forth between them. Eventually after nearly a whole year I got my licence back. Meanwhile quite legally I was able to continue driving buses because my licence hadn't actually been revoked or refused, but it did leave me wondering. What if, after several months, my cardiologist had said that I was unfit? I could have been carrying passengers all that time.
In actual fact, I didn't do all that much bus driving, just part time for weddings and other events, but I could just as easily have been a regular full-time bus or coach driver as I once was.

Just trying to get in touch to see where my licence is. I renewed it online back in April but still don’t have it yet. My work need it to update the company car driver list and as my old one expires next week I can’t use it.
They can surely get staff back in the office now for goodness sake, I’ve never been away from mine.
Yep Audi-man, is it not possible for your firm to use “DVLA driver entitlement check” I am a company car driver, and the firm uses this to check our driving licences each year.

Strangely enough, the experience I quoted earlier was pre-covid, but last year when I renewed as I have to do annually due to my age, it went through within a few weeks.
I suspect like many large organisations there was no preparation for a pandemic, working from home etc and delays have snowballed for some transactions. The fact staff have been on strike a few eeeks ago, over 12 months after the first lockdown, suggests all is not well at DVLA.
I swapped my car last October, the transfer of new one to me and old vehicle to the dealer was all done online in the dealership as was the payment and refund of the VED.
A few weeks later I received the usual transfer of ownership letter confirming the transfer of my old vehicle, however the letter also stated my new vehicle was also no longer my responsibility and had been transferred to the dealer!
Thankfully the dealer was able to use a dedictated line to DVLA and all was sorted within a couple of weeks. I doubt I would have been as successful.
I think the problems at the DVLA go way beyond the pandemic. My licence renewal during Covid was actually considerably quicker than the previous one which was pre-Covid. Just a few weeks instead of nearly a year. Not good when you have to renew annually anyway. PSV and (I think) HGV licences have to renewed annually after age 65.
Lots of companies still hiding behind covid - some big ones, as well. One we supply do not know whether they are on their arse or their elbows due to staff STILL working from home. Theres only half the pre-covid work getting done. I dont think they are out of bed till 9, then they have a break, then day-time telly kicks in around 2.30, so you cant get hold of anyone. Their warehouse is being run by rodents, as there are certainly no people in there nowadays. Total shambles.

Just been told to take it in, I’ll suggest this on Monday but the guy in charge of the driver list is a bit old school. One colleague got removed for getting 3 points on his licence.
Yep I get that Audi-man, a mate of mine who used to drive one of the home delivery vans for Sainsbury's told me that if they got up to six points they were removed of the vans and offered a position in store.
Being removed for just 3 points seems a bit harsh, unless they already had points on there license, even then it amazes me how firms can be allowed to take the law into there own hands.
My mate now works in store by his own choice, as it was only £1 an hour less, for far easier work than being on the vans.
Wow interesting article Ernie DB, thanks for posting, the article prompted me to have a look to see when my license expires which was sooner than I thought, it expires at the end of 2023, so I hope they have got this mess sorted by then.
Although reading the article it does state that for a straightforward renewal, that you can continue to drive without the need for a physical licence, whilst you are waiting for a replacement.
And it also goes onto say that online services are working as normal, although it would be interesting see what my company says when they do an online check of my licence and it comes back as being expired, would I still be permitted to drive my company car.
