I am due my covid booster next week and am feeling a bit apprehensive.
I had AstraZeneca for my first two jabs and the first one was horrible, it completely knocked me off my feet for several days with pains, shivers and a general feeling of being so unwell that even maxed out on pain killers, I still couldn’t get out of bed. My second dose was fine, just a slightly painful arm for a couple of days but that was it, which I was very thankful about.
However, I have been reading that when you get the Pfizer as a booster after the AZ first and second jabs, you are more likely to react to it in a similar way to how you reacted to the first AZ jab which is making me very worried about next week. I have booked it for Wednesday after work and I will then be working from home on Thursday and Friday and then off for the weekend so have time to deal with not feeling well.
Did anyone else have a really bad response to the 1st AZ jab and then had the Pfizer booster? How did the booster affect you?
Unfortunately everyone is different. Had AZ for first two. First was fine, second gave me flu like symptoms, hot sweats overnight, fine next day.
Had my Pfizer booster on Monday morning. OK on Monday and overnight, but then felt a little 'off' yesterday, but nothing which couldn't be improved with paracetamol. All good today.
We had 2x AZ then a Moderna booster on 18th November. No side effects other than a slightly sore arm for a day. We also had flu jabs at the start of November.

Catching Covid because you haven’t had the booster will probably feel much worse.
OH had 2xAZs then Pfizer booster plus flu jag (we get both at the same time up here, one in each arm). Sore arms for several days, that’s all.
I felt a tad nauseous after my booster but fine next day - that might have been the flu jag not the Covid booster.
So glad we’ve been done, especially with the latest variant being recently found not that far from us.
My wife had the booster put in her arm on Saturday it is sore and it aches .and had a bad headache and not been feeling right but slowly she is improving
I asked a similar question on Facebook this morning after getting a Pfizer booster on Monday evening (6 months after getting an AZ double dose). For much of yesterday I struggled to get out of bed. Rapid fluctuations between violent shivers and hot flushes and such a bad headache that it hurt to sit up. It didn't help that I also ended up dehydrated, because getting up for more water and paracetemol just seemed like too much effort.
I wasn't anywhere near that ill when I had Covid in April 2020! Thankfully I'm feeling much better today.
I had a similar, but much less severe reaction to the first AZ injection and no reaction at all to the second.
A friend who works in the NHS has said that about 100 people in her department have received the booster and there appears to be no pattern as to how people will react. However, a bad reaction for anything up to a few days seems to be fairly common.
However, I agree with Fiona. Feeling awful for a day or two is ultimately a small price to pay if it means you're less likely to catch Covid, transmit it to others or overwhelm hospital wards. You've done the right thing by arranging your work in such a way that allows you to fall ill if it happens. I hope everything goes ok for you. x

Similar for me, no reaction or side effects at all to the first two shots of AZ, but the booster of Pfizer laid me out for a few days, I felt absolutely dreadful with the same symptoms described above! Just the luck of the draw it seems.
We are both fully jabbed. AZx2 and Pfizer. OH was fine for all three. Me, first AZ shivers and temp for about 10 hours. After the Pfizer - started about 10-12 hours after injection - mild shivers, no temperature but bad headache which cleared after 3-4 hours without taking parcetamol or the like.
Everyone is different. My wife and I both had ill effects for 24 hours with our first AZ jab. My wife had a sore arm with the second but I didn't even know I'd had mine. We had our boosters (Pfizer) in October and all we had was a bit of a sore arm for a day or two. No other ill effects at all.
We both had our flu jabs a couple of weeks before our Covid boosters and just had a bit of a sore arm afterwards.
I’ve checked the leaflet that I was given after my Pfizer booster. I’d have thought everyone got one of these.
