Just heard as a throwaway item at the end of the news that he has confessed to the murder of Lin and Megan Russell and the attempted murder of Josie, all those years ago OMG, is this a deathbed confession? What about the man who has been inside all these years and has always pleaded innocence?

This vile scumbag is the devil incarnate, evil doesn’t even begin to describe him.
He will be guilty of a lot more as well I think that is a certainty but of course he’s too cowardly to even give family’s closure.
He is literally a great argument of bringing back the death penalty, but no we the taxpayer have to pay a fortune to keep him for the next god knows how many years.

Had we had the death penalty we would never have had the latest confession and the poor chap falsely convicted for the murder would still be incarcerated.

I can understand the feelings about Bellfield, but I think Mrs Bonce makes a good case for NOT bringing back the death penalty. If we still had it, an innocent man would probably have been executed.

Collin has a good point, as much as every fibre of me wants Bellfield hung as a fitting end for utter scum, had that been policy, two miscarriages of justice would have occurred, an innocent man would also have been hung AND Bellfield would likely have gone to his grave not exonerating the innocent man, so he would not have ever been cleared, even in death. Whatever the cost of keeping Bellfield alive, at least the investment may lead to justice for an innocent man, not that anyone can give him back lost years or really compensate for those years.

That is the reason I could never support bringing back the death penalty, even though the likes of Bellfield deserve nothing less. Too many innocent people have been executed in the past, and clearly more would do so in the future if it ever were brought back. We can never be 100% certain we have the right person, however compelling the evidence at the time. Numerous innocent people would have gone to the gallows since the abolition of the death penalty, if it had still been available to the courts.

True, but he's still a murderer and a nasty piece of work whatever.

It seems that he has a habit of confessing regularly to multiple murders.
