Evening... i have just moved down from Argyll where wildcamping was readily available. I have done a few drive arounds (I live in Shropshire) over to the welsh border area. I have noticed the Berwyns but wondered if there are other areas for wild camping. Cheers Sean

its not legal down here in england to wild camp as you have been used to up in scotland, however one person us of the word wild camp is not the same as the next, but basically in england you can not just stick a back back on you and go off walking until you find an area to put the tent up, unfortunately there are a lot of people confussing wild camping with the pop up type sites that basically provide you with a field and water

Hello Sean .
If you are anywhere near
Whitchurch .
There Are Walking Trails Start and Finish there
Like the Sandstone Trail South to North in Cheshire Upto Frodsham .
As I have Hiked It and stayed on Campsites
I Spotted many a Secluded Wooded ,Forest off the Beaten Track ,
areas to do a Stealth camp

......

Also there Is the South Cheshire Way
Another Possibility !!!!!!!!!

And South of Whitchurch there are other Trails also.

(I Can't Remember there Names )

Across the Border In North Wales
The Halkyn Mountains have plenty of Moorland areas where you could Try .

Different access legislation up here than down south, as has been said. You don’t say if you’re walking in with a tent or driving up with a Motorhome to park overnight.
Check out something like the Snowdonia National Park website, which says “ Wild camping can be a rewarding experience, bringing people closer to their natural environment. However, wild camping is not permitted anywhere in Snowdonia without prior permission from the landowner or farmer. Camping in car parks or on roadside verges is not allowed at any time.”
The key thing that’s mentioned on other websites is - ask permission. Otherwise arrive very late & leave very early. Not very relaxing!

I also live on the border, just in Shropshire.
The Berwyns is a walkers paradise, where very few venture into, you will have no problems wild camping there. I regularly walk in the area and meet very few others.
It can be a bit hard on the legs tramping through the Heather.
The Arran range are not that far away, and we'll worth a visit.
I suggest buying Nuttals Mountains of Wales (Cicerone Guide) some good ideas of hills and routes.

The OP might be confused by that, having come south from Argyll. He’d have seen Arran up here, the Aran ridge is in Wales.
Shropshire is indeed very scenic. Lots of walks online too.

Yes, to many r's 😳😳 The Aran range has 14 tops above 2000ft and the ridge walk is outstanding.
Also the Arenigs are close with 13 tops over 2000ft.
The Berwyns are often refered to as ' Boring Berwins' But with 24 tops over 2000ft there is plenty to keep you occupied.
As majority of visitors drive to the Snowdon range,
you will be alone on all ranges accompanied by the occasional HenHarrier and Goshawk. Plenty of space to eildcamp.

A Cicerone Guide,
It covers every mountain over 2000ft.
