At long last, we got back to the theatre yesterday to see 'Chicago' - after two cancellations due to Covid. The theatre was packed for the matinee, and the show was fantastic. The only slight disappointment was the finalé which went with a 'whimper rather than a bang'. Still, after 2 hours of 'high octane' song and dance, I can forgive the cast for being exhausted.

Next show we've booked for is 'The book of Mormon' which also has been postponed several times.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

I have a credit from a Frank Skinner theatre booking from Spring 2020. Except the theatre is STILL asking for folk to wear masks. I know many (probably most) will go along with this, and while i would happily sit among 300 or so 'wearers' without one myself, the mrs will not. So we are going to lose this fee as it expires soon. Because i am flatly refusing nowadays - outside dental visits. As i cannot risk being binned from their list, and accept why their requirement is still there. But thats 15 mins, not 2 hours.

I enjoyed the stage version of Chicago when I saw it in London some years ago.

I have been back to theatres for shows in between lockdowns 2021 and I felt safe.

I was more annoyed when I finally got Covid at the beginning of March 2022 after having been triple vaccinated and had avoided catching it since the pandemic started in March 2020!

I am almost certain I got it from attending either a rum bar for a rum tasting or a micro pub that had a tap takeover the day after, as some of my drinking pals who attended one or both events got Covid too.

Both events were packed and not a mask was worn for obvious reason being not practical to do so.

I hate to think how bad it could have been had I not been vaccinated (I have a medical condition that makes me more vulnerable than those who are healthy); and shall join the queue for all future Covid vaccines when they are offered to me.
