Old boiler has had it so need a replacement.
Replacing Combi with Combi.
Like Worcester Bosch or Viessmann.
Like the 10 year warranty.
Looked at a few providers like Boxt, iheat etc.
Any advice or comments please.
we had the worcester fitted during lockdown absolutely no problems at all with it, easy quick job for the fitters, the 10 year warranty covers parts and labour, only thing is you have to have it serviced every year, last years service cost us £80 we had ours fitted by tom willoughby, we are in the same area as you
As for brand you will get as many opinions as those you ask of. My engineer only fitted Valliant and ours has been trouble free for almost ten years.
He didn't like Worcester as he had seen quality diminish. The company spent a huge amount on backhanders and freebies to fitters (which is why British Gas usually fit them) and he thought it should have been used to reduce the prices to boilers of similar construction and quality.
Just check what is needed prior to fitting to ensure the 10 year warranty is valid. As its a swap you may need to have a powerflush of the system to clear any corrosion.
Another vote for Valliant here. Ours is about twelve now and has been no trouble. Glitch with the RC thermostat was sorted out under warranty.
The guy who fitted ours recommended it partly because they're very easy to work on if anything does need doing.
Another thumbs up for Valiant, we have an Ecotec model since 2009, it's serviced every year by Valliant and touch wood it's still going strong. Used every day to heat water tank. Recently changed Honeywell control module to the Tado control now linked to my phone, love it! Just one observation, make sure the correct model of boiler is specified according to your room sizes/insulation values etc.
We changed to a Worcester Bosch combi boiler about four years ago. It was installed by British Gas. It involve moving the location and removing loft tanks and emersion boiler. Thus far has been perfectly fine, also more economic. We also had the Hive system installed which has been brilliant for controlling the heating remotely when we are away in the motorhome.
We have a worcester bosch. When we were looking at it we were recommended a Valiant as the best in the world by one engineer, and a Worcester Bosch as the best in the world by another engineer. Guess which recommended which based on who they had the best contracts with? :-)

I believe the service must be carried out by a Worcester accredited gas engineer not any Gas Safe engineer in order to keep the 10 yr warranty

yes thats correct, but the guy i said about is exactly that, better still is very good with his prices and service
We don't have mains gas here so most people use oil or LPG. My next door neighbour had a Worcester boiler fitted and for the first month, an engineer was there almost every other day, trying to get it working properly. It seems OK now, but it was a lot of trouble. Wouldn't fill me with confidence.
I, like most people in the village, use oil for heating and most have Grant condensing combi-boilers. Mine is still working well after 16 years and has given little trouble.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

And I believe you only get the 10 year guarantee if your fitter has fitted a certain number of their boilers otherwise its 7 years.
We had an Ideal HE24 boiler which was a bloody nightmare, all engineers hated working on it and finally after yet another problem, we on the advice of a gas engineer ( husband of a work colleague of my wifes ) had a Baxi boiler installed, had it six years now and touch wood no problems, very quiet too unlike the ideal.
Just look up ideal HE24 I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole !
If the installer doesn't clean the system properly any new boiler will give problems, some who give a lower price don't clean the system, I think its about £200 to do it properly
Thanks Alan
I intend to get a system flush, i will get the hot chemical flush and not the power flush.
The pipes are microbore and were installed 42 years ago, i would be worried a power flush might cause problems.
John
Been interesting, had a few quotes. Each plumber has told me he fits the best make and others are rubbish.
Had a quote from BOXT for a WB 4000 30 kw including chemical flush Magna Cleanse, magnetic filter, wireless thermostat. Fixed Price £2095, I have even found who will fit it and sent him a hello email.
Local heating engineers are at least £300-£400 more and tell me they can’t get anywhere near BOXT quote. I have told them I am happy to pay a bit more to support a local business but no offers.
Two have given estimates, not a fixed price even having been to my house.
One told me he wouldn’t do a power flush cos it’s 40 yr old microbore. One is asking me to sigh a disclaimer if I don’t have a £540 power flush.
On the positive side BOXT have nearly 100% 5 star reviews on Trust Pilot, thousands of them.
