Hoping someone here can help. Since I updated my phone in July I've had nothing but hassle. I keep getting a message saying DNS failed and I get kicked off my wifi. I'm constantly eating into my 4g data. Its not an Internet issue as hubby's phone works perfectly fine. I also get a message saying secure WiFi has stopped and asking me to subscribe. I've never paid a subscription for secure WiFi in all the years I've had a mobile phone or had this hassle before.
I've googled till I'm cross-eyed and can't get to the bottom of it. I know I can go into settings/connections and turn dns onto automatic and save. Trouble is it doesn't save and kicks me straight back out. Both my hubby and me have the same phones, bought on the same day with the same mobile plan. I'm the only one with trouble, his works perfectly well.
Has anyone got any ideas? Dont even know any reputable phone doctors who could advise. Desperate.

That’s really frustrating.
Go back to the shop & complain, it’s not good enough, you’re paying for something that you’re not getting, breach of contract etc. The noisy bird gets the worm. Demand a refund / replacement as “not as advertised” or “not fit for purpose” etc if they can’t sort it while you’re at the shop. But you need to give them the opportunity to sort it.

Sadly, I can't do that Fiona. We have had the phones for over 2 years and are now out of contract. I went sim only but thats not where the issue is. Trouble started before that though when I updated the phone.

Try switching your phone off completely and restarting.

Also switch router on and off.

Many things reset if you reboot.

Thanks, tried it, also deleted wifi code and re-added but made no difference.

What phone do you have ? Have you tried turning off Bluetooth ?

If it's an Android phone I'd make sure everything (especially contacts, photos & calendar) is backed up to the cloud and perform a soft reset. I've had to do this occasionally when my phone has misbehaved. Once you log back in to your Google account, everything should come back, although you may need to tweak some settings to match your personal requirements.
I also found it best to take a screenshot of all the loaded apps first to make sure that they all reload.
If the above doesn't sort the issue, repeat using a hard reset.
Instructions on how to do resets for your phone should be able to be found online, and it's an easy enough process.

This I've not tried. I'll need to get someone to help me with this as not sure what I'm doing. But worth a try. Thanks

Can you just delete the latest update, it might be that your handset can't handle the latest version.

You need a 10 year old to sort it. Not kidding. The mrs suggested i use my phone torch to look in a cupboard. I told her it didnt have one (as i was blowed if i could see one). Our grand-daughter - who had never seen the phone in her life, said 'give it here', and within five seconds had a torch blazing!
