I watched the weather forecast after the 10pm news on BBC and it was said they had been seen as far south as South Wales and Reading, but mostly in northern Scotland. Of course, it's cloudy here...there's that much artificial light locally I wouldn't stand a chance. I would love to see them though! I don't really have a bucket list but if I did they'd be on it. I just can't face the thought - or the expense! - of trekking off to Alaska, Lapland or wherever, to shorten the odds.

Photos all over Facebook of the Northern Lights seen here in South West Scotland last night, other photos from friends in Inverclyde too. Sadly, I'm still housebound so didn't see them. Must say though the views of Arran from our house were the clearest they've ever been the last few days.
I, too, saw the report that they could be seen as far south as Reading. I had a good look out just after that and no sign here, although it's fairly dark (street lights have failed and no one wants to report it) - we are 15 miles north of MK.

I’ve got the free AuroraWatchUK app & it was sending me notifications (in Ayrshire) every couple of hours yesterday evening, up to about 5 am.
Unfortunately we now have light pollution from a small housing estate next door, as we used to see the Aurora occasionally from the back garden. Then one of the houses put a prison standard security light at their back door &
I can now put my washing out at night (should I so wish).
Have been seeing them intermittently for about 2 weeks in the midlands. If the increasing strength of flares and radiation bursts continue on the sun
It would indicate we haven't seen anything yet.
Too much light and another row of houses behind us. I'd love to see them though. I saw that weather report last night and went to have a look just in case, but no chance.
We did go to Iceland about 20 years ago, but it was in June so it didn't really get dark, even at 1am.
Not much hope of seeing anything in the sky in my neck of the woods, too much light pollution, too many buildings obscuring the horizon up to about 30 degree elevation at best, and usually hazy skies (Thank you SO MUCH Heathrow!!!! - when you shut down over Covid period, the skies were lovely and clear! - could even watch the satellites whizzing over, but no more!), then of course it's almost guaranteed to be cloudy if there is anything of special interest in the sky!
Would love to see the Northern Lights, but going to have to travel for that to happen!
Last night I went down to Meols prom (on Wirral) on the off-chance of seeing them, but no joy. I did however see all the twinkling lights on the array of wind turbines out at sea, Blackpool Tower as a tiny coloured spike in the distance, and I heard curlews calling in the dark, so it wasn't a wasted journey. I live in hope!

Clear sky permitting there will be a good display over most of the Uk for the next few of nights. The sun has had some enormous Earth facing X and M class flares and eruptions for the past few days with no sign of it settling down.
