How does the cost of Diesel compare with that of petrol in your area ?
Here in Perth it varies between 12 and 18 pence a litre more than petrol.
While in Galashiels (Scottish Borders) on Saturday I filled up with Diesel at £1.469 a litre - 1p LESS than petrol.
I noted however that all the supermarkets are still ripping us off whereas the "stand-alone" fuel stations have reduced their diesel prices (at least in the Borders)
interesting, all my vehicles including my Motorhome and van are Petrol, but noticed today at a garage that has just been changed from Esso to Texaco that their diesel price was cheaper than petrol it didn't click until i read your post (diesel £159.9 E10 £161.9). maybe a marketing effort to attracting local customers for a short time who knows?

I live near Gala and the prices have been pretty reasonable here, one of the local garages bases their prices on the last tanker load, so the other 2 garages tend to compete with that!

The difference between petrol and diesel is huge here
diesel £159.9
Petrol £139.9

Same here except a couple of pence higher for both. Years ago, before diesel became more popular for cars, diesel was always cheaper than petrol. This is rip-off Britain though.
As I understand it, diesel is cheaper to produce than petrol, so why is it dearer at the pumps?
Just read an article stating that diesel is actually being bought by the fuel industry at a lower price than petrol.
Goes to show we're all being totally ripped off!
It is rip off Britain. When we went to Northern Ireland we were only a few miles from the border and had EUR 70 left over from a previous trip. Crossed the border and bought diesel much cheaper.
Diesel was noticeably cheaper then petrol in Ayrshire last week. Can’t quote prices (and currently not local) but I remember being surprised & checking it wasn’t the other way round.

If you think the differential is bad here, look at France.
LeClerc in the Pas de Calais
Petrol €1.575 Diesel € 1.849
When we used to go to Spain and Greece diesel was always about 20€ a litre cheaper than petrol. Quite a few years ago now though. It always annoyed me when I came home and saw diesel was dearer than petrol.
