Did not help that I came back on Saturday in a packed plane full of tourists from many different countries.
Started to feel rough on Monday, tested negative.
The symptoms worsened yesterday especially the aching body, so I tested again and it was positive.
Self-isolating for a few days, had to cancel 7 events/appointments up to Saturday.
Good job I have it now and not later as I do not wish to miss the celebratory birthday meal and the funeral of my dear friend who died recently from an accident.
There is a silver lining in the dark cloud afterall. And I am still alive and kicking!

My husband and I were away in the caravan for 4 weeks and started to feel unwell the day after arriving home. I was convinced we had covid but after several days of negative tests, it must be some other sort of cold/virus. At least it happened at the end of the holiday and not in the middle!
We went on a river cruise in Portugal in May. I had what I thought was a bad cold on the last couple of days. I tested when I got home it was covid. It lasted about 5 days. Like a really bad cold, night sweats and feeling tired.
My wife got it too, she had a cough lost her sense of taste and had bad cold symptoms.
No tests were required before flying or on the river cruise. You had to have proof of vaccination but no one asked for them.
We both stayed away from people until we tested negative.

I have an existing health condition, and mix with people who are vulnerable, and thought I should continue to test and bought myself a pack of 25 LFTs in readiness of running out of the free-issue test kits.
I only test if I am feeling unwell, which I did on Monday after returning from a trip to Amsterdam for work and leisure on Saturday.
Luckily, so far no sign of losing my sense of taste and smell, just aching allover, with a dry cough and a runny nose.
Going back to bed soon, and keep dosing myself up with cold and flu meds.

Sorry to hear you are unwell DK, hope you get better soon.
I thought that sitting in an aluminium tube with hundreds of others flying through the sky was a big risk too, but according to two friends of mine who are airline pilots, you are far more at risk in the airport than on the plane. The air in the plane is changed very frequently in flight apparently, unlike the air in the terminal buildings. Viruses are far more likely to spread there.
We got our second dose recently, very different from the first bout last year. Didn’t think to test until someone I’d been near to said their bad hay fever was actually Covid. Flu-y aches then an extremely sore throat (thank goodness for Covonia throat spray: local anaesthetic), but it lasted half the time of the first dose last year.
I was just kicking myself as I’d forgotten all about it.
We managed to completely avoid it until February of this year!
I ended up testing positive (daily) for 10days!
I also passed it on to my beloved after about day 3, so we ended up on a sofa apiece, binging on movies and chicken soup, and feeling sorry for ourselves!
As I type, I now know of 3 people who have it... you, sister in law, and my colleague's daughter.
It most definitely hasn't gone away!

I am feeling better, thanks, much better after spending nearly whole day in bed on Wednesday.
Tuesday was Day 1 positive, and it was still positive this morning on Day 4, and I suspect tomorrow will also be positive.
The taste and smell are impaired, hopefully they will be back to normal soon enough.
Take care yourselves, as Covid certainly has not gone away!

I was tested negative on Day 7 (Day 1 = the first day of positive test) - I did not test on Day 6 as it was Sunday and I did not plan to go out and did not wish to waste a LFT.
The duration was less than the first episode back in March 2022 when I was tested negative on Day 10.
The loss of taste and smell was quicker to return too, probably helped by sniffing the spice pots and ground coffee sooner, with appetite returning sooner too, and I was very pleased to be able to smell the pets again.
Apart from the loss of taste and smell, the other symptoms were very similar to flu especially the muscular skeletal pain which is not normally associated with a heavy cold when I had a cold.
Covid is in the news again with a new strain that is causing concerns etc.. Perhaps I had that one, who knows?! Can't wait for the next vaccine roll out!

After returning from hols at Christmas, both Mrs.L and I had cold like symptoms. Mrs. L suggested it might be Covid and we had picked it up in T5 at Heathrow. However, we had only common cold symptoms and none of the Covid specific ones so we didn't pursue it. We were OK after a few days. Was it Covid? we will never know, but it just seemed like a winter cold.
