With the upsurge in induction hobs and many modern appliances there is a problem that the existing RCD, commonly type A, can fail to operate in fault conditions and are no longer being fitted, they are being replaced by type AC RCDs.

My gas hob needed replacing but no one would fit one as my kitchen did not conform to new regs regarding cupboard height and not enough space between top cupboards at either side of hob and it would have required a new kitchen really.
So I settled for an induction hob. I bought one on recommendation of local reliable Euronics centre and got the best one I could. But l cannot get on with it. As there is only me to bother about it is OK, I mainly eat salad as a main meal but when I do eat cooked food an find it hard to control. I am always having to use the boost and when I turn this off the heat just disappears and I am constantly adjusting it up and down. I would have another one though as it is the only thing I can have really.

Hmmm, I find they are very on and offable and easy to control for the ones I have in the van (2-hob) and the two I bought for catering events (a single and a double). I love mine!
I am very pleased to hear the local charity for homeless and vulnerable local people where I volunteer as a cook is replacing their ancient electric range cooker with electric hobs with another range with induction hobs, woo hoo!

We must be dinosaurs. Every single house i have bought in the last 40 years has had a bloody 'electric' hob of some sort. Which i've immediately ripped out for gas. (yes, i know some houses have no gas). Even now, we are looking to move again, and 7-8 out of 10 kitchens - despite often having a gas oven, will have a different hob. Why is this??? Gas is far easier to control.
Our house (built in 1917) had gas fires in front and back "lounges" - but NO gas into the kitchen!! We had gas pipe installed to the kitchen immediately after buying the house in 1970....
Obviously all the previous owners cooked only by electric....

You and me both. Our daughter has an IH and could we hell operate it when she left us in charge of the kids one night. I was pulling my hair out. There was even a 'control' that came away in your hand - by design! Why!?
In the end, had to get our 10 year old Grand-daughter to show us the basics, or we'd still be there now trying to work the damn thing.
The charity where I volunteer as a cook is getting a new electric range cooker with an induction hob to replace the existing electric cooker.
One of the cooks has never used an induction hob before, and I said I would go in to help and show her how to use it when it arrives.
I'd better RTFM before I start and not to assume anything!
