I have given up on it. Just a simple itinerary seems always wants to put in current location no matter what you want to put in. Have resorted to the AA planner instead
For the last 2 European trips in 2023 and 2024, I used Google Map for route planning purposes and found it to be very good.

AA route planner for caravans, but I usually go a different way from what it suggests. We have just returned from Bourton on the Water and it wanted to bring us back via Oxford...no thanks! We have our escape route from the Cotswolds which involves perfectly ok B roads, via Aynho and Croughton. Also saves 20 miles.
Looked at ViaMichelin a while ago (before recent changes) and was pretty unimpressed, it generated routes that were NOT caravan friendly, although doable, far better routes available (and mostly the way other route planners picked!). These were routes/destinations I already knew well (only testing the worth of Michelin for potential future use!) , so knew with certainty that the Michelin route was pretty rubbish! - fine with a solo car, but NOT best suited to a caravan!
I use Plan.TomTom online route planner (https://plan.tomtom.com/en?p=51.5074,-0.1196,6z). It allows you to enter Caravan/MH dimensions, max speed, and a host of journey options such as avoiding tolls etc. to give you usually a choice of routes. You can also transfer the route to your own TomTom Sat Nav unit if you have an account.
Never picked a duff route for me yet! For sure, some of the route planners pick some bizarre routes, which don't fill me with confidence they are good caravan routes either!
Thankfully, I know my way around much of the country pretty well, so have an inkling of what might be a good or bad route anyway, so route planning is just 'finessing' and confirmation in many cases.

Those that use Google or AA, does it give you the option to add on caravan? Thanks.
Based on what I could find on the internet, nope, sorry!

For a journey with the caravan I use a road atlas in conjunction with the AA / Google route finders to make sure it's a route we're comfortable with for towing, then ignore the SatNav until it's worked out which way we're going (or put it on part way).
