Just received renewal quote from LV. Made no claims, it has increased by over £400. I will be looking around for cheaper.
Yes, I would too! Go on the comparison sites, check 3 of them as they sometimes come up with different companies.
How peculiar! But I got an error code when trying to reply to the LV quote so have emailed about the price and also whether it was genuinely from them.
Used to be with LV untill we had a claim and they were as helpful as a chocolate fire guard.
Leak in the roof. Guy they sent stood at the end of the garden looking up at the roof and proclaimed it was the fault of an accumulation of moss and not covered. He then got back in his van and left!
Saw a local roofer repairing a neighbour's roof and got him to take a look. Huge 6" split in a section of lead flashing.
LV didn't want to know!
Make sure it is a like for like policy though. You have to be very careful and read all the small print as they vary so much on what they cover you for.
We are with Sheila’s Wheels and were burgled a few years back and they were excellent. Will be looking around at renewal as it’s all online now and you can’t talk to anybody except on chat.
Don’t forget the cost to replace things has all gone up too, so that’s why it costs more. You have to make sure you are insured enough to replace all your items in your home if you say had a fire. Have a tot up of cost to replace your things and I think you would be surprised how much you actually have.

House insurance doesn't normally cover leaks in a roof unless they are caused by a weather event or accidental damage.

One issue to be careful with when buying house insurance and our hobby is to make sure you check the unoccupancy days. Some will give a figure of say sixty days which means there are rules if you wish to leave the property empty for 60 days or more. But some insurance companies quote 60 days as the maximum number of days you can leave the property unoccupied in any one year regardless whether you are away 2 days or i4 days. I had that discussion with JL insurance which caused me to swap to the Caravan Club.

Insurance covers for insurable events. A split in lead flashing will be considered a repair, unless damage was caused by something else.
We paid for our conservatory roof repair when the insurance company sent 2 guys who sucked their pencils & measured the glass size wrong. We know it was wrong because OH designed it, so we went back to the original contractor.
Interesting to hear other people’s experiences with insurance increases this year because ours has jumped up too. We’ll be cross checking with Which? and Money Saving Expert.

Strangely enough, our motor insurance has decreased by £200. Swiftcover, if anyone wants to know.
We were with Saga until earlier this month when ours was due. That jumped by about £200 last year, but even after spending hours on comparison sites I couldn't get it any cheaper (like for like quote). This year it went up by about £50. However, this time managed to get it nearly £200 less than Saga's quote, with no voluntary excess (unlike Saga's which was £150). That's with the AA. Could get it a bit cheaper, but cover wasn't as good, and excess was £250/£350 in most cases. It'll be interesting what their renewal quote will be next year.......
I edited this post and somehow the £ signs were replaced by question marks within a black diamond shape. I deleted thos and replaced them with £ signs, but they now have a strange letter in front of them.
