Sad times.
I remember when they started up due to the decline of Siddle C Cook's transport business following the closure of Consett Iron Works in the 60's.
The name Elddis was "Siddle" in reverse.
Caravan manufacturing ending.
Motorhome & campervan manufacturing continuing at a new uk location, according to the article.
Both decisions appear to reflect the current market.
Local info is that motorhome & campervan production is moving to Poland. Consett will just be sales, design, customer services, workshop etc. New additions to range are already being made in Poland.
As an Elddis/Xplore owner it was nice to have a van made & bought locally.

Look at Buccaneer branching into really expensive motorhomes, for what they are.
I mean how many, really expensive, Buccaneer caravans do you see on the road? not very many. I bet their market share is a very small percentage.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Buccaneer are part of Elddis. I doubt the current Elddis caravan production will be transferred to Germany though. The Isny factory in Germany is the Dethleffs factory so future Elddis caravans could well be Dethleffs caravans rebadged as Elddis.
The Elddis & Buccaneer motorhomes will be made at the new motorhome factory in Poland where other EHG group vehicles are produced so they will be existing EHG models badged as Elddis.
New Elddis vehicles from Poland are already slotting into the Elddis CV range. On the Peugeot Boxer platform rather than Ducato with sliding door on offside. Look like rebadged Etrusco's.
The Xplore caravans will be going too. They have campervans in the range with only one of them based on current Elddis CV range. Guess they'll be dropped or reimagined.

After years of building faulty caravans damp with cracked panels we are finally rid of them. Will anybody mourn them ?
They can't all be that bad. Our Elddis Wisp is coming up to 34 years old and we are still using it. I'm having a few health issues at the moment, but if I see an improvement soon we will start looking for somewhere to go with our caravan again a bit later in the year. It's not entirely fault-free, but given its age that's not surprising really. I've heard of other makes of caravan less than half the age of ours and with far more problems than ours.
