Not only various options on the key fob, with our little ev, I have the car app on my iPad. So, those frosty mornings when we want to make an early start, I set up “climatisation” on the app so that when we go to the car all the windows are de frosted and the heater has warmed the car. Very useful.

Convenience vs dangers of 'too smart' key fobs/phone apps!

Rolled home one night a while after midnight to find my neighbour's Merc/AMG Chelsea Tractor parked in the street with it's tailgate wide open and no sign of owners about! I knocked on their door and being new neighbours who didn't know me, they were a little wary of opening the door to a complete stranger in the early hours. Convinced them it was legit with sign language through door glass, and they were very grateful indeed that I'd alerted them they had accidentally opened the tailgate with their phone app from inside the house!

My phone app doesn't control door locks thankfully, but my key fob certainly has a tailgate opening button, and as it's an electric tailgate, it won't just discretely unlock, it will open wide! Never used the 'feature' in 9 years, so just consider it a daft security risk! Thankfully my key fob lives mostly in a Faraday pouch, so accidental unlocking/opening is minimised!
