Useful info here on correct towbar height: https://www.pfjones.co.uk/towball-heights.html

If you have a bolt on flange type tow ball, it used to be common practice in days gone by to fit a 'dropper plate' to lower the tow ball in relation to the tow bar, BUT, modern tow bars are both type approved, so 'unauthorised' modifications not permitted, and are subject to scrutiny as part of the MOT and may fail with an unauthorised modification! Your tow bar manufacturer may offer an 'official' dropper plate as an accessory, which would keep everything in order.

Assuming your tow ball height is within the height variance mentioned above, a problem with modifying a tow bar to suit your A frame is that it likely renders it incompatible with most other trailers!

Possibly best to talk to a reputable tow bar fitter, to see what solutions may be commercially available.

Hello, we've had a few vans and towcars on A frames. Think present van is about 16" to top of towball. The car is a Picanto and the frame does seem to sit off level as the towing eyes are quite low down ( was done professionally so it's correct), have towed many miles with it and always been OK. the old C1 seemed better for a leveller fit, not much you can do as the car itself will determine where the A frame frame can be fitted behind the grill.

Did you just buy an A frame to fit the car or have the car adapted by a firm? Have you any photos of the set up? Maybe a dropper plate would be the easiest to rectify.
