Well, our 8 year old Seat Leon is beginning to show signs of age. Time to consider what we buy next. We would like to go a bit smaller but need a car that will tow our small caravan (1200kg) with enough bootspace for the dog. Looking for nearly new 2021ish because we aim to keep it for a while. We've always had VW estates before. Currently looking at the Audi A4 but again that's a bit bigger than we want. Also trying to keep insurance costs down if we can. Any recommendations? Thanks
We quite like our Ford Focus 1.0 litre petrol EcoBoost (there are 2 versions, 74kw/101PS and 92kw/125PS, you need the higher one to tow 1200kg). It's not perfect, the satnav screen has wobbles occasionally for instance, but on the whole it seems like a well made solid car, low enough on both tax and insurance. We took ours towing to North Spain in 40 degrees during the 2019 heat wave, no issues.
Thanks all. Had a look at the Skoda Karoq - reviews vary for the 1.5 but good for the 2l which is a bit bigger than I would like.
Re the 1l focus, I honestly didn't think a 1l would be good enough to tow. Will look into it further.
