My car has 13 pin & caravan has 12n & 12s. Rather than the agricultural adapter. I have chopped of the plugs on caravan & connected to the 12 core cable via choci block.
However, in the 13 pin/12 core cable theres nowhere to connect the blue charging wire thats in the 12s . Theres no mention on 13 pin socket of this function.
So what i want to know is what ya do with the 12s blue wire. ?
The 13 pin socket uses Pin 9 (in conjunction with Pin 10) and the Orange supply wire for caravan battery charging according to above guide.
There's certainly a charger feed on my car's and caravan's factory fitted 13 pin socket/plug, although never had cause to examine it to check compliance with above guide.
The best solution is to just buy a towing adapter direct from a 13 pin towing socket to the twin 7 pin towing plugs on the caravan. No fuss and no problems that way. I tried changing my twin 7 pin plugs to a 13 pin plug on my 2004 caravan several years ago and encountered all sorts of problems. When I asked my service engineer about swapping the plugs for me he advised me to stick with the towing adapter because the outdated 7 pin circuit is not designed to connect to a modern 13 pin circuit, that's why an adapter was produced to be compatible with each other.
Instead of having the twin long dangling cables, I purchased a Maypole version shown in the link below which is more practical.
