Hello again. I have had this clunking noise from front of my volvo for past 6 months driving me crazy. I have replaced front shocks. Front wishbones both sides. Front and rear drop links. But still clunking. Mechanics x 2 have had it up on lift and can't find OR replicate the noise. I have now bought 2 new front strut top mounts NOT FITTED yet. But think this is last chance saloon. Car drives great and quiet on motorway. But after that the clunking starts. PLEASE HELP. 🙏

Tired engine and gearbox mounts can't be ruled out on a vehicle that age.
I agree with the above because the mechanics have only tested all the suspension related components. All rubber components perishes over time so the engine and gearbox mountings could well be the offending parts that need replacing.
These posts sound just about right. As it feels like the clunk is under my feet when driving or as passenger. Regarding the transmission mounts. Is this something I could tackle in drive way. I have done shocks and drop links before other repairs. But this would be a first. Any you guys tackled this before.
Maybe a good idea to look for a used Haynes Volvo S40/V50 manual which should tell you how to change the engine and gearbox mountings. Both vehicles are identical which the only difference is that the S40 is a saloon and the V50 is the estate. I happened to sell one in excellent condition on Ebay in April this year for £12.50 so would be the cheaper option to see if you could do the job yourself on the drive way.
