I'm currently trying to decide which Motability car to get later this year and have been looking at the possibility of the 2023 Hyundai 1.6 petrol-hybrid. But I'm seeing several different answers in searches regarding the towing capacity ranging from 1400kg - 1900kg! If there's anybody who's actually either got one of these cars or knows, the definite towing limit, I'd be very grateful for your help please. My mind is a boggling with sooooo many numbers swimming around in my confuddled brain🙄
Many thanks in eager anticipation,
Hippy chick

Which model?
As you've said, your research throws up various towing capabilities.

You will almost certainly find (it does with many cars!) the towing capacity (as does kerb weight) varies with model details such as trim spec, engine/gearbox options etc. so that may well account for the varying different figures you have found, also published figures vary from country to country, one well known outfit matching website is notorious for using NON-UK car specifications and publishing car specs and outfit matching specs NOT applicable to UK!

Asking someone to give you their figures 'if they have the same car' only works if it's EXACTLY the same car right down to the finest detail, and manufacturers do change the figures from time to time with tweaks to specifications and minor mods to latest cars. It's a bit too random if you are dependant on exact figures!

Best bet is to ask Hyundai UK (web site has a online chat and email address for enquiries) about the exact car you are considering, especially if you are pushing towards weight limits. Unfortunately they are yet to publish specifications on line, says 'Coming Soon' on web site!

Many thanks for your replies peeps, they have been very helpful. I had also forgotten to add that the Tuscon in question is an automatic and that it has the following letters and digits:
1.6 TGDi Hybrid 230 N-Line 5door 2WD Auto
Gone are the days, it seems, when you could just call a car.......e.g. a Ford whatever model & cc number😂

HC, you have a great car, 1.6 Turbo Petrol Hybrid, 230 BHP, all the EV, Hybrids and Plug in Hybrids are Autos. Your Hybrid towing capacity is 1650kg. 👍

We are considering replacing our Santa Fe with a Tucson hybrid. We will go for the AWD version which is slightly more expensive,(only 2 models have awd) or a new diesel Santa Fe which are still available.
Our neighbour has a 2wd self charging hybrid which is very nice. I think it's a 180 hp She doesn't tow.
Our dealer said it could take until November for a new one. They have a few Tucsons available but limited choice.
All Santa Fe are auto now too. We don't want a PHEV as the towing limit is too low at 1350kg. HEV or naughty diesel fine!
The local dealer had a couple of Tucson petrol 2wd manual which were last years possibly ex demo.

Well that definitely sounds more promising Devonatheart👍But I haven't got the car yet and it's currently only one of three I'm considering for when I have to order my next Motability car later this year.

Our current towcar is a Ford Kuga 2.0 auto AWD which does tow our Elddis Riviera 505 beautifully, but I have missed my beloved S-Max having had 2 of those in the past no longer available on Motability But the latest Kuga on Motability is now a 2.5 petrol-hybrid that actually has a lower kerbweight albeit it should still be fine for us. But between you and me, I haven't been a real fan of my Kuga although my husband and pretty much everyone else who's been in it, seem to love it

Apart from the Tuscon, (which I've already tested ease of access in my Son-in-Law's one), & the Kuga, the other one we're going to physically have a look at for consideration is the VW Tiguan 2.0 petrol model. My husband would still prefer the Kuga again

But your info on the Tuscon has been a great help and may just persuade my hubby to also start thinking of it as a real contender too

The Kia Sportage shares the same platform and running gear as the Tucson so may offer you some more choice.

Sadly the boot space wouldn't fit our dog crate, but I did like the look of that one and was excited when Motability included the automatic version on 1st April until I checked out the boot space. Prior to that, it had only offered the manual version which I can't manage with the arthritis being worse in my left foot. One of our nephews used to tow his big twin axle Elddis with the Sportage.

But many thanks for your response
