Hi all,

We are travelling from the North East to Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club Site in a couple of weeks and would appreciate advice as to the easiest route to take with car and caravan.

Although slightly longer than other options at the moment we are currently favouring M1 to junction 29, then A617 / 619 , A6020 , A5270, A6 and finally A515 .

Any info and advice would be greatly received

Hi, your above route is probably best, personally I wouldn't go for shortest route over the tops through glossop - too much 'up hill and down dale'

Instead of cutting across from A6 to A515 you could carry on down A6 into Buxton then out on A53 to the site - not much different I should imagine.

We always head for J29 if heading north.

I'd avoid the A6 from Stockport up to Buxton as they have been doing a lot of utility works on that road

Hi

Personally i would carry on A619 into Bakewell, and pick the A6 up from there. Tight over the river at Bakewell. You get a good climb up to Taddington, but apart from that a good run.
