I have a midrange caravan and tow it with a Diesel Avensis. We have been as far away as Barcelona and Florence with it.
Soon I cannot buy anything besides an electric vehicle. None of which can tow a caravan. A few EVs can but are so expensive that to afford them you would be so rich you could afford posh holidays, anyway.
Therefore is caravanning as we know it Over? Finished? Gone.
NO reasonable price EVs can tow. Anything! This is because the range would be ridiculously small and also because of kinetic energy when braking will damage the Powertrain.
No tow vehicles, no caravans, no caravanning. They are wiping a whole industry and British way of life. out!
You will loose your £20,000 and up investment in holidays.Just so we can offset China pouring vast amounts of C02 into the air, which may or may not cause global warming. (what’s wrong with being warmer I may ask? — but that is another subject)
Mr.Ditton towed with an EV from Scotland to Germany, so contrary to your statement there are no EV's that tow, then changed to there are?, there actually is some.
His video about the trip to Germany is very informative, pitfalls and all.

Petrol and diesel vehicles will be good for another 20 years.
In 20 years EVs will be totally different to now (look how different new ones are compared to the Leaf of 10 years ago) and hydrogen research is in early stages. Toyota have not made the EV leap for a reason.
It will be several or more years before you cannot buy a diesel or petrol vehicle. I estimate that the price of a second hand diesel vehicle will jump up in price the nearer we get to 2030 and to be quite honest, I think that date will be changed and moved probably to 2035.
I wouldn't worry Marcus, there will still be plenty of fuel driven vehicles around, albeit second hand. Also electric cars will probably become cheaper and more powerful.

I think the big issue is charging them when out and about as many campsites do not have or want the facility and I agree with them. After all you cannot buy diesel or petrol on a campsite so why should we be subsidising people with EVs.
Also ver the Bank holiday last year many charging stations could not cope and people were sitting in long queues.

He seems to have it sorted for the type of life he wants. He was pleased that his rig had a range of 115 miles on a full charge to the next site where he had to spend overnight charging it up to halfway.
My thought is, that every pitch will need a High Powered EV charger. Because if you are in transit. -- there will be a lot more site hopping to get to places you want-- then the charging infrastructure and sheer power requirements are going to be er... interesting! Most medium size campsites simply do not have the cables in the ground to supply 30 - 40 7KV chargers.
It can be done, but at a huge cost to the site owner, presumably.
Otherwise, you will have to sit and queue at an expensive motorway service point for hours on end.
I see very little sign of people getting ready for this.
Our trusty Skoda does about £0.16 per mile (towing), which is not so good as his electric vehicle. However we have a towing range of about 350 miles when filling up.
Also,it takes about 15 minutes to fill up(charge) and the filling points (charging points) are ubiquitous.
Even when the sale of new combustion engine cars is halted, the availability of diesel will continue for many years later.
I don't know how old Marcus 12 is, but he has no need to panic.
I have been towing my Unicorn S3 Vigo since May '21 with my EV, a Polestar 2. It's the best car I have had the pleasure to drive and a fantastic tow car.
Can you tow 350 miles with it non-stop? No. But you can tow 140 miles with it, which is still about 40 more than I like to tow in one hit.
Can you recharge in 15 mins? No, but you can park, put the car on charge, have a coffee, have something to eat, use the loo, and only have to wait an extra 10 to 15 mins longer to have another 100 miles of towing ready to go.
Can it tow a 2500kg van? No, but it can tow 1500, and there are others that can tow bigger (1600, 1800 or much more).
Can you recharge on site? In some places yes, in others no, but I could never fill my car on site before, so it doesn't bother me now.
Would I buy an EV especially for towing? Probably not yet, but I got mine as 90% of my driving is solo and about 10% is towing - and I CAN and DO tow with it.
I did about 1600 miles towing in '21, about 1000 in '22. Only a trip to the dealer so far this year, but I expect it to be 500 to 800 miles this year. Longest one way tow in it? 260 miles in one day.
So - as many have said. Don't worry about petrol not being around (it still will be new for 7 years at least), and even now the electric options are not half as bad as some nay-sayers would have you believe, and are getting better all the time.
If you are only 12 Marcus then I suggest you enjoy your caravan trips with your parents as long as you can. Those of us who will never see 70 again have taken it all & left you nothing. None of us care about electric cars as we will all be dead before petrol/diesel cars finally die so sorry & all that. 👍

Very interesting. It seems that there are people out there that can use an EV for camping. I suspect there is a little more planning involved, but it looks like it can be done.
Thank you for your encouraging post. I didn't know that Polestar was really a Volvo, or could tow. My caravan certainly falls withing the limits.
