Hi we had one, recently sold and towed a large twin axle van all the way to the south of france and back. Never had a problem and we did ask the local dealer before we towed and service manager said it wasn't necessary unles towing something over 2 tonnes

Thanks for the info.
I have been told the same and I have also been told that any towing needs the fan upgraded. Seems like BMW are not consistent in the advise.
can you tell me when you were towing was your current fan on whilst the car was under tow, whenever you stopped or reached a junction you hear the fan cutting off.

Hi, I can't recall hearing the fan at all to be honest?
