Considering a terra clean, has any one done this to their car.
I have a 2.2tddi xtrail with 175,000 miles. It drives well but due to mileage I'm considering it.
I had it done on my van, cost me £90. It didn't make a blind bit of difference to the performance but dropped a few mpg. Apparently it was the only way they could get the emissions down to the correct level for the MoT.
If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. If it is running ok, then apart from normal servicing leave it alone. This sort of process might be worth trying if there was some sort of a problem & then often in the end(for example)egr valve still has to be removed & cleaned or replaced.
Only one uninformed negative comment that I can see & yet you mention posts plural. Are you mistaking the sensible advice of not using this on a car that is running perfectly well for a negative comment?
Son in Law had this done on his transit,£80 has he knew him. I myself just dont get it. It cant clean behind the valves,so valve stems are sill full of carbon,Air in take is till clogged with muck, only things i can see it cleaning,Is the egr valve,Injectors. Cat, Piston crowns. Am i missing something?
After saying this, son in laws says it works.

You are missing nothing. If it fixes sticking egr valve then all good. If it does not then egr valve will need removing & cleaning, replacing or some will blank them off. If there is an injector fault then usually its because they are worn. There is no need during the life of a modern engine to decoke it & carbon on pistons or valves will not affect running.
But one does not try to fix what is not broke & op question related to a car that was running ok.
Red X and a blast down the motorway will do the trick.Must admit, if i havent given mine a good run for a while, soon as i hit the motorway it blasts a bit out when i boot it.

Not tried it but there may be a cheaper alternative. Add some flushing oil before your next service. Drive the car for a couple of days then change oil and filter. You may be surprised how much muck comes out.
Don't put flushing oil in a car with a turbo engine.
It has less lubricating properties and more detergent, when you drain the oil you wont get it all out, the cam carrier and some of the galleries will still have some of it left behind.
Over time even a small amount could cause issues to a turbo.
Change the oil more often than the book says and stick to that. If it gets dirty quickly change the oil more often.
