Well that took me by surprise. Picked up the Insignia last week just a couple of days before setting off for a jaunt. The dealer had the tow bar fitted and supplied me with a couple of number plates.
Had the van home to prepare the car and van, fit new number plate, clean off the new paint that had been so lovingly applied by Witter before hitching up to try the electrics.
Nothing.
The air went blue, in my mind I was already driving back to the dealer or contemplating ringing the company who fitted the tow kit to come out to me.
I’d been working out of the back of the hatch so I thought that I would shut the hatch and when I tried again all working fine.
Rang the company who fitted the tow bar today they say this is perfectly normal for most of these tourer type vehicles. There is only power at the plug when the hatch is closed (except the permanent live, I checked)
So, if I am sitting on the side of the road and I need to open the hatch for say a jack or the strange piece of kit that re-inflates the tyres, I have no lights or hazards, I said. Mmmm he said.
------------- Just saying
If all is not lost where is it then?

Tourer type as in estate - I think he avoiding the issue. Had estate cars since 1996 and never heard that one before.

Certainly doesn't seem to apply to VAG vehicles.
I would get in touch with Vauxhall Technical and check with them.

I'm just curious as to why folk buy Vauxhall when its common knowledge they go wrong and the dealers have them longer than the owners

Our last Vectra had 178000 miles at 9 years old when we traded it in for our 13 plate Insignia.
Never had a major issue, but we use a local mechanic who is ex-VX rally team.------------- 2016:

Had a Vauxhall a few years back, 145.000 miles no problems,
Would you like to give us your Vauxhall ownership problems Bob or is it just what you have heard from other Scoda owners------------- alpiner

We had 10 Insignias as taxis, all them were returned under the sale of goods act, due to them being always off the road, Vectra's on the other hand especially the 1.9 tdi ones where relatively trouble free
