I was looking at a Galaxy 2.0 140(56 plate) Ghia today,was wondering about the towbar,I guess I will come across the same problem with the electrics if I decide to buy the car.The sorento that I currently have didn't seem to have any problems when the towbar was fitted and thats an 04 plate.Just have to wait and see I suppose.
Ford do not have a monopoly on CANBUS interfaces, there are more coming on the market everyday. Even if you use a third party device it will not cause any warranty issues as long as it connects to the Ford connector and no scotchloks are used.

That's not what Ford have told my leasing Company....therefore there is not much I can do.
I do nor want to fall out with the guy who runs the leasing company (he has "looked after me" in the past) so will tow the line.
I'm sure you are right though Ray, it a restrictive practice and Ford are abusing thier power here.
