We almost bought one of the last new 5 door ones at our dealers, it must have been a couple of years ago. The only thing that put us off was the third seat is right on the foor & we need at least 6 seats. We went for another Espace instead & bought a 3.0dci grand espace, it's nissan power train in a renault & has turned out to be a cracking towcar.

My mate has a Ford Maverick 3 door, as far as I know, it's identical to the nissan. He's had it for years, it's given no trouble & he loves it, he actually pulls a twin axle senator with it which has to be close to it's towing limit weightwise for the 3 door version.

I know another chap who has run 5 door terranos for years, he must be on his fourth or fifth now. He does tow with it but only a trailer which is never very heavy. He's not a man who would buy the same make continuously if they weren't up to the job.

our m regd 2.7 td was crap as soon as you got over a tonne on the hitch, very vague and didnt inspire confidence towing.spent loads trying to sort out but failed and got rid of it.pretty slow off the mark, thirsty (25mpg) and awkward handling massive downsides, but looked nice though when it was polished up . wife drove it once and gave up..."like driving a barge but with worse handling"

maybe we were just unlucky....
