I have been to look at a 2005 V70 today (163BHP) detachable tow bar already fitted. We decided not to go for the 185 BHP due to the extra insurance costs.

And I have found out that this is how you tell the difference between the 163 BHP and 185 BHP (just in case anyone needs to know)

If you look at the 6th and 7th characters in the VIN/chassis no. they relate to the different engines as follows :-

163 BHP 6th and 7th characters are '69'

185 BHP 6th and 7th characters are '71'
