Thanks for all the advice from everyone, positive and not so positive, couple of things to bear in mind, we're leaving on thurs 23 thats 5 days time! i'm in a real fix, i've instructed the garage (vauxhall dealer) to sort it and just think i have to add on a couple of grand onto my holiday cost! thanks to my credit card, i'll update when i get back if i'm on my own steam or the back of a lowloader. One things for sure, it's all part and parcel of life's great adventure, please keep your fingers crossed for me and i hope my news is good in 5ish weeks
Original model Zafiras (i.e pre 2005) had very low towing limits; my 51 plate 2.0DTI was limited to something daft like 1050kg - apparently the standard clutch was not up to the job.
Vauxhall did a 2.2DTI model on the continent but never introduced it in the UK, apparently that had better towing limits.
Snifferg - the 2.0 DTi was restricted by engine cooling (hence the low tow weight), it does appear silly that a 1.8 petrol can out tow a diesel, but that's Vauxhall for you!!!
