Its not a matter of knocking the TDCi. I loved it but having had many problems with DMFs and clutches I gave up after owning 2 of them. I bought a Vectra CDTi SRi Estate and its a better car by far. It tows better , is more economical and far more reliable.

Now, I may just have been unlucky with the Fords and lucky with the Vectra, but despite that I was seriously considering buying another Mondeo TDCi recently but my wife said she couldnt stand the stress of me getting wound up by it spending half its life in the garage being fixed at huge cost to us.

As I said, maybe we were unlucky but Ford customer car were awful and the Vectra has been faultless over the last 16 months an that counts for a lot.

decisions, decisions.

despite my earlier post regarding not listing my vectra, it is with a sad heart that i have listed it tonight. i would like a diesel towcar (i have now driven my works peugeot 2.0 407d and couldnt believe the difference between that and a 1.8 petrol vectra), and to honest i fancy a change anyway. thanks to everyone who has responded to my OP, i now know what you mean regarding torque rather than BHP. whether i will get a mondeo remains to be seen, but whatever i get i know my decision will be an informed one.

thanks for all the advice.

P.S. if it sells. i need a new car before 2nd October!!

i have had to withdraw the car from ebay tonight as someone who doesnt know what their rear view mirror is for has reversed straight into the back of me. other car (saab) came off worse though! aren`t towbars great!! at least they were insured. will have to go into a bodyshop to get sorted so will put new car on hold.

why is nothing straightforward?
