Some bad news for all you Navara users, if you start to here a loud rattling coming from under the bonnet, stop quick or you will need a new engine as they tend to blow the block at number 3 cylinder
Some of the early models had this issue, but later models don't have this same fault!
Nissan increased the warranty on the early engines to 150,000 miles because of the problem.
Navara's from 55 plate onwards are not effected in any way.
Also, if you drive the old shape Navara (D22/D23) then drive the newer Navara (D40) as the thread starter has tested, they are a million miles better than the older shape!
The new ones are fitted with a Renault engine but they have a problem with the gearboxes.
Could you please post a link to the information that Nissan has extended the warranty to 150,000 miles as I can only find reference to 99,000
Ok so it was extended to 99,000 miles, I knew it had been extended but wasn't sure by how much. But this is still the OLDER D22 Navara. The thread starter, myself and others are ALL talking about the later model Navara (D40) which does NOT have the same issue.
These newer Navara's are also a lot more powerfull at over 170 BHP. As an owner I can confirmed the are not slow, they are infact very quick! Mine has happily cruised at over 100mph for long distances in Europe quite effortlessly. On UK motorways I never need to drop down from 6th gear, the power and torque are simply amazing.
Anyone that's driven the D40 Navara will be able to tell you this.

Just remember your not towing all the time.

SLUGGISH????
Have you actually driven the D40 Navara (55 plate onwards)???
I think you'll find the standard 172-174 BHP means they are far from sluggish!
We have the warrior and it would tow all day without a second thought. Have a friend who has the navara and its quite heavy on juice mine is quite good with fuel.
Mine is now worth more than when i bought it aswell
The tax on it £400 a year ouch!! but it does a job it is the equivelant to our air ticket, it gets us on our hols. I also love looking at it, as both the navara and warrior look beautiful.
Just a thought Carson.... we have paid £175 and Charlichoo has paid £125 for tax on Navarra's so I feel that I need to do a bit of looking around at what we should be paying for these trucks in Road Tax.
As for the economy, ours runs at around 33mpg. Got to say though, that is usually on easy A roads sat at 50-55mph. Towing around France last year pulling our Loire, we got what we thought was a respectable 25mpg.
On the speed limits, they are subject to the same speed limits as lorries, so be careful !
Same speed limits as lorries???? I would like to see the ruling on that one.
Be careful of the fuel economy, as a comparison a recent trip to france me in a volvo v50 diesel and a friend in a navara both with similar vans on tha back etc, we were filling up at the same time all holiday, however I was putting £40 in and he was putting £70 in, I usually had paid and was back in the car before he had finished filling up!!!! pulling power was about the same, nice car though!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
