Hum.... sounds like the garage has overtightened it after draining the oil and have stripped the threads!!!
Hubby (used to be in motro trade) says you have them re threaded using a "helicoil insert". Thats assuming using a tap to clean up the threads first doesn't work!
I'd be talking to the garage that did the service!!!!
Well, car goes in today to have the gearbox taken off, an engineer from the warranty co is coming tomorrow to inspect it, Hope we can get it back for the weekend, off to Cheddar on Sunday- that should test out the new flywheel and clutch, lol
wtf. why sell a warranty for a used vehicle if the get out is that easy.get it back to the dealer let him sort it. i bought an 04 transit dmf went after i covered a massive 11 miles dealer chuntered but he changed it.her indoors worked for trading standards and says he has no choice but to sort your problem.
I know, CC legal helpline has helped, Unfortuately as the car broke down it was taken to my nearest repair centre and not the dealer 60 miles away, As the car is in bits (for the warranty co to inspect) there is no point putting it back together only for the dealer to do the same. The labour cost has been incurred, the only difference would be installing the new components. I have another ace up my sleve in that I bought the car on my Credit card, so I should be covered there as well.
Have emailed the sales manager, will see what he says tomorrow.
Tell them to fit the solid flywheel and clutch conversion kit instead of a new DMF, its a quarter of the price and will last for nearly 150,000 taxi miles , thats what all the taxis are doing when the DMF goes
if you keep the car that long and the clutch goes all you will need to change is the clutch itself
VW are now fitting the old system to there new cars due to the big failure rates in DMFs
Dealer has agreed to pay, did contemplate the single mass flywheel, but seeing as it is under warranty, then OE spec parts have to be fitted. Next time round it will have a single mass flywheel. Valeo have produced one for the VW Tdi that has shock absorbtion on the clutch plate instead, so does the job of the DMF,
Why wait till next time get it fitted now so you have no more problems, the dealer will be pleased at not having to fork out over £800 for the DMF as the solid system is only £240
