I think what's being said here is, as long as a vehicle is well looked after, serviced when required, and treated with respect then you'll get a LOT of mileage out of a car that new - even whilst towing! - before it gives up the ghost!

I had a friend who had a G reg Peugeot 309 1.9l diesel for sale end of last year that had towed most of it's life - mileage? oh, about 850,000 miles and STILL going strong!

My little 1.3l R reg Starlet's done 130k miles now and that's still in it's prime (freshly MOT'd last week)!
In other words, don't worry and enjoy the many miles yet to come

52' plate 150k TDCi here. Is our second (other car is newer Galaxy) car & drives lovely, but constantly worried about things going wrong. Might be faced with going down to one wage for a few years, while Wife goes to uni. Galaxy would have to go. So was thinking of swapping to a petrol model. I know, wont tow as well, but a 150k diesel Mondeo could land us with some big bills. Brother in law has just paid £700 for new clutch. Add in injectors & a turbo & suddenly the economics of running an older diesel change. Not sure how petrol engined cars fair long-term these days but cant helping it might be a safer bet.

Takisawa. With respect, a 150k mondeo of that age wont attract much interest as a trade in if that is what you are thinking of doing. Keep running it until it becomes uneconomical to repair and save the fuel costs of a petrol car. At least you know what you have got at present.
