Getting back to the original post I tow a Bailey Pageant Bretagne Mtplm 1409 kgs with a 2.0 diesel Passat estate with the DSG 'box and it manages fine.Auto is great for towing,always seems to be in the right gear,high 20's mpg on recent run up to Scotland. The auto hold is great in queuing traffic and the electronic handbrake ideal for hill starts. I hope you find a suitable weight van and enjoy towing with the A3.
