Our towball height on the 4 x 4 is 19" but when the caravan is connected up with noseweight of about 95kg the height drops to just under 17" and the caravan sits level. Lunar state that the coupling height is 17".

I don't think spring assisters will help in this case. They only work when the suspension has already travelled a fair way.  We still don't know the noseweight, or what you have in the boot.  Those items are quite relevant.

I suspect you will end up with new bushes or springs on the back end.

If it were mine, the next thing I woul do is to sit a couple of people on the back bumper and see how far it goes down. Then find a similar model and persuade the owner to let you try the same test.
If there's a big difference then you need some new suspension parts.
We still don't know the noseweight. What is that please?

I havent checked the noseweight yet because i havent got a measure yet. This is only quite new to us.( whats the best measure to use.)  My o/h took the car back to garage to get suspension checked out and they said it was ok.  maybe it looks low because our v/w touran looked a lot higher at the back. we just checked hooking up while at storage for practice, is it possible for nose weight to be over with nowt in it. Just thinking i wish we hadnt changed the car!  linda

It's very possible to be over with an empty van. We use a Milenco gauge, but you can do it with your bathroom scales.
You need to do that first. If that's not it, you do have a suspension problem, whatever the garage say. Try the deflection test next.

Some caravans can be nose heavy, You say nothing in it, No gas bottles, No battery etc etc etc?

Problem is you cannot load the rear to compensate, Thats asking for trouble.

The issue is you think its looks low yet the measurements say otherwise.

And if you do buy a noseweight gauge dont bother with the cheap ones they are useless.

Guy tried measuring his with one of those tall yellow ones and got several totally different readings each time he lowered the van onto it. Picked it up to see if it was clean and it fell to pieces.

Pay the extra and get a decent calibrated one, Or find a local dealer with the right equipment.

You can check noseweight with short length of wood on bathroom scales. Until you know that is correct for car it is pointless doing anything else. If the caravan is empty apart from gas bottles in front locker the noseweight might be too high.

If a twin the piece of wood in length should to fit in between the bathroom scale and the midway mark on your towball for an accurate reading.
We use the Reich Towball Load Control as it is easy to use and read.
