Mass in service is empty weight or kerbweight so add weight of fuel & passengers & you are ok to tow 'van of all up weight of 1250kg, it will be around 85% of weight of car on road.

The 85% figure is only a recommended max, you could tow 100% of the kerb weight quite legally if you really wanted to, you could also opt to take a B+E test allowing you more options when towing.

But i would not tow more then the kerbweight of the Car.
well thanks tents for clesring it up i worked the towing weight out at 87% with all extras on car etc,will be changing this year and probably get an insignia (1600kg)to tow with and good on mpg too
