Well i have researched asked advice on several forums and still dont know if am going to be breaking any laws when i collect my new Coachman vip 545 in march 2014 .
Caravan miro 1475kgs , mtplm 1630kgs .Empty N/W 60kgs ,max loaded 100kgs.
Tow vehicle Kia Sportage 140bhp,6speed manual, diesel .
VIN plate -2260kgs=gross laden weight , 3860kgs=gross train weight .That would give as stated in v5 doc 1600max braked trailer weight .
I took the Kia with me+full tank of diesel to weighbridge 1900kgs . That would give a 83% ratio if i towed the van with a loaded weight of 1577kgs .

Is that legal ? I will have kept all weights below there max permissable plates . Gross train weight would be within the specified limits , likewise all nose weights .

Yes, you are good to go. If you do get pulled & weighed they will weigh the whole outfit, provided train weight is under vehicle max then you are ok. I assume you are aware that over 3.5t train weight & you need B+E licence which you will have if you passed your test before 1997 but after that & you need another test?

-------------
Regards, Jack+Jon.
