guess no response as not happy with answers. I have a 2 litre mondeo although the handbook does state max towable weight 1800 never would I attempt to tow this weight just not worth the risk both to myself and more importantly to other road users. Not to mention the cost in brake pads. would hate to be travelling downhill with that weight on the back of a lighter car

I'm taking heed ok, we let the deal with the van we were watching go, I'm going to limit any new van to 1500 laden.

We tow our Abbey Vogue 600 with a V70 2.4T petrol at the moment. No issues on stability, stopping or going. Yes - it is not as 'good' as a 4x4 but there is not a lot in it. We will continue to use the V70 whilst the Rexton is having issues and will be taking it to Millau in August.

What on earth has this got to do with a Mondeo towing a twin-axle?

David.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!

OP, it's the caravan's MGW or MPTLM that you have to consider, not it's ULW or MIRO.

Well, actually quite a lot. The Mondeo and the V70 both weigh roughly the same and have the same towing weight - but do not let facts get in the way of stupid comments.
