I wish people wouldn't offer the wrong advice because if you buy any caravan handbook it will advise not to drill any holes in the caravan chassis at all. This information is sourced from Alko who make the chassis' so you either accept the advice or ignore it but whatever, the manufacturers apply this advice because there's a constructive reason for it.
Sorry Tango, any visual evidence will show stabiliser brackets bolted to caravans through chassis, mine included. Many have been there 20-30yrs without problems. Stabilser kits included bolts & instructions for bolting through chassis. It is up to invidual manufacturer to state whether bolting through chassis is ok or not. Plainly 20-30yrs ago it was ok.
I find if very hard to believe the chassis is designed and materials chosen that put it so close to the failure loadings that a few small holes will make any difference.
Much more likely is the issue over breaching the plating that is certainly reason ken and there may well be some supplimentary equipment protectionism going on too.
