I have had it confirmed to me verbally by Kia Customer Services, UK that the FREE rework/repair by Kia on this problem WILL END 31/3/2016 in the UK.
Bearing in mind that the problem is caused by an apparent design error (not to my knowledge admitted by Kia), I am at a loss to see how Kia expect to make this work...
Anyway, the advice we are giving on my Home Forum is to treat it as true and get your brackets done/re-checked before 31/3/2016; only ~5% of our Members have rejected this advice. We also have evidence now that passing an UK MoT is no guarantee of making it through the next MoT without needing new brackets; 80% + either had broken brackets or were condemned by Kia prior to the next MoT and after the next MoT this figure went up to 95%+.

The reports of the end of the FOC Bracket TSB Work by Kia UK, 31/3/16, have been greatly exaggerated.
(With apologies to Mark Twain)
Seriously though, the rumours that this work was to end have not yet proved to be true. Kia UK, so far, appear to be continuing to do this work BUT:
- Owners appear to be meeting with an increased level of ‘resistance’ from some Kia Main Dealers and Customer Services, nonetheless persistent owners win through.
- All Sorentos so far re-checked, after Kia TSB work only, are showing rust again and being re-done by Kia.
- Tailored advice for dealing with Kia now posted.

Please keep on getting your brackets seen to/re-checked by Kia UK.

Sorry I’ve not been around much lately – had a few problems - nuff said…
Anyway, the news in the UK is that:
- Kia UK continue support this vehicle with FOC work but it is vital to involve Kia UK Customer Services.
- There are now a total of 4 problem brackets on the rear axle though the new ones are less prevalent so far.
- The whole of the part, of my Home Forum dealing with this topic, has been re-structured and updated so that it is not necessary to go through all the posts to find all the Technical Information and other ‘Dos and Don’ts’ when sorting your MK 1 Sorento out and doing ongoing ‘CHECKS’, which have proved vital.
- We are starting too see indications that vehicles sold outside the UK (Au) had the New Style Brackets fitted well before vehicles made for the UK; the New Style Brackets have only apparently been available in the UK as replacements.
This raises the question:
“Outside the UK and Au, are there countries with MK 1 Sorentos with New Style Brackets fitted and when?”

Sorry folks but too much has happened to report more here, but if you would like to know more, please feel free to pop across to UKSorento.com, Register/Sign in and have a read, you’ll be very welcome and it is Free.

UK MK 1 SORENTO: UPPER TRAILING ARM BRACKET CORROSION
UPDATE 11/7/2017
Hi Everyone
In case you do not know, in April 2017, Kia appeared to plan to stop all Free Bracket Service Campaign work from 30/4/2017.
In reality, on 4/7/2017 my Home Forum, UKSorento.com, heard from an official source that, contrary to what had been previously reported in April 2017, the Service Campaign had been re-instated until 30/4/2019.
It is unclear at present how well Kia Main Dealers (KMDs) are responding to this change. Certainly, until very recently, some KMDs have been ‘very unhelpful’.
The ‘Latest Advice’, on how to go about getting your brackets seen to, whether never ‘seen to’ or ‘Rusty Again’, has been comprehensively updated on my Home Forum to try to ensure as few problems as possible during what is likely to be a pretty confused time.
So, if you have recently been ‘rebuffed’ by Kia or still need to get your brackets seen to, please check out the ‘Latest Advce’. So far direct contact with a KMD is not recommended.
Sorry, but there is far too much information, including proforma emails etc, to re-produce here so please go to my Home Forum, Register and Login and then read the ‘Latest Advice’, this link will then work and lead you to everything on the subject: http://kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/13158/announcement-upper-bracket-latest-advice.
Another major development could well be posted there soon – so please keep in touch.
