Salmong aka Garry is an absolute star, gives all caravaners a good name, took me out in his PHEV towing his caravan to give me a proper insight, he is right a slightly lighter van for the weaker hybrid feels appropriate, just looking for the best fixed bed version for tall blokes.....

For purely company car tax reasons I have the above car., the very thirsty Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (mpg 31......). The max tow weight is stated as 1500kg. We are now looking at our first caravan for me, Mrs and hound - how the hell do you choose?? Confused by the 85% rule, what weight can I tow? The salesman at a local dealer said ignore the 85% it's a 30 year old caravan club guideline which is no longer relevant.....but then as I was looking at second hand he chose to ignore me anyway.....seen some nice examples but don't want to get carried away if they are too heavy for the car.......help.....

Pointless having it when your shelling out more in duty than your saving
