M5 north to the end (M6 junction 8) then continue M6 to junction 10a (M54). Head west (Telford) as the M54 links up with the the A5 and continue to Llangollen. Continue A5 then take A494 (Bala) to Dolgellau (A470). Take A470 then turn off at the A487 Porthmadog. From Porthmadog take A497 to Pwllheli.
The hairpin bend that we worried about turned out to be quite a wide sweeping bend in the end! The only hold ups were through the little towns when cars were parked on the left - often on double yellows!
A note to anyone taking this route though, we stopped at Telford services and it was awful, firstly the signage was awful and it was tricky to find the caravan parking, then when we did there were about 6 quite small slots which were right next to the Starbucks. Because of that most of them were occupied with commercial vehicles, and in one a tiny little hatchback. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was busy but the car park was quite empty. Luckily there was one free slot, which was quite narrow and not really long enough for our outfit. I don't think we'll stop there again.
However we stopped on the A5 at Montford Bridge Picnic area and that was great, a cafe, toilets, a lovely walk by the river (perfect for the dog) and plenty of room to park easily with the caravan, so would definitely use that stopping place again.
