what is the towbar ball weight given for what you had fitted? i have the santa fe auto and it is 92 kgs.

towball height!!!! as there could be two faults.

TOWBALL HEIGHT

In all instances it is imperative that the correct towball height specification is met.

Caravan: 430mm +/- 35mm

Car: 385mm +/- 35mm

These measurements are taken on a level surface and represent the distance from the ground to either the centre of the towball or the centre of the

coupling head. This requirement is part of EC regulations and must be adhered to.

Give Witter tech department a ring, they are very helpful. I think they will confirm that it illegal to use a drop plate with the vast majority of towcars, especially a new one. It is all to do with type approval, and in the event of an accident whilst towing, this modification would be obvious.
I did enquire with Witter about my Tucson towbar, and it was not type approved to have a drop plate, so pretty sure the ix35 will be the same.
