As a complete diversion from all the 4x4s suggested thus far, how about the new VW Passat?
The 2.0 TDi has a Kerbweight of 1648Kg, which if your van is 1375Kg gives an 83% match. It has a manufacturers maximum towing weight of 1800Kg
I've no experience of the new Passat, but I've noticed that it is heavier than a lot of "lighter" 4x4s such as the Freelander, RAV4, X-Trail etc.
Just a thought....
