I,m thinking of changing my 2.0ltr Mondeo for a 1.8 Vauxhall Vectra petrol engine or possible diesel. Question is... is the Vectra a good towcar? Will appreciate members views, especially owners personal stories.

I was talking to one of my neighbours about his Vectra (a 1.8 petrol) and he said that it was a bit gutless, at his office thay have 3 diesel vectra's and the difference is quite remarkable. (these are the 2.0 not the newer Euro IV 1.9's)

Couldn't leave a sad face!

Hi ,We tow with a 2Ltr vectra TDI.Had a 1.8 petrol mondeo before but have got to say the vectra is a far superior tow car.We really liked our mondeo but we now prefer our vectra.

I tow an Avondale Mayfly with an all up weight of 1100kg and use a 2002 Vectra 2.0 DTi (old shape)Pulls great with plenty of torque and quite economical. The Vectra is quite high geared with 1000rpm = 30mph in 5th gear, so cruising in 5th at 60mph = 2000rpm so find having to drop to 4th to maintain 60mph on m/way inclines which it does really well
