Just a general question, we're thinking of changing the car, and I quite like the look of the Galaxy 1.9 TD. Does anybody tow with one of these, and give some general feedback. Many thanks
Hi I don't have a Galaxy, but a friend of mine does, he tows a trailer tent with a 1.9 Td Galaxy and he has no problems whatsoever and still averages around 45mpg on the motorway.
i have the same sort of motor i have the seat alhambra 1.9 tdi(all the same just not the badge) i'm a novice and found it a really "easy tow" on our first trip had bad winds and heavy rain but no problems.
We tow with a 1.9 galaxy, just been away for a week, towed with a roof box, bikes on back of car, 6 passengers plus dog, caravan laden, no troubles. OH says you hardly notice the fact there's a caravan attached to the back!!
I have a 2001 1.9 (115bhp) Galaxy (auto) and usually pull a 1994 Abbey County Warwick.
The car tows very well, sits nicely on the road and doesn't generally get bothered by the wind or other vehicles. Acceleration is generally pretty good even when loaded up.
Problem: Auto gearbox had to be refurbished after 40K miles. c.£2000. (still under warrantly ) 4th and 5th gears would not lock in, and had the appearance of a slipping clutch
I would recommend the car, but would ideally go for the larger output (130BHP) and definately go for the 6-sp manual 'box.
