hi

just changed car from a vectra 1.8 - 2004 (54 plate) to a vectra sri cdti 150 2007 model

I had a towbar fitted to my old car & only used it 3 times

will it fit my new car as the towbar is virtually new

I'd be inclined to ask the Vauxhall dealers or a towbar centre that question, it's one I wouldn't want to get wrong.

I think the cost of fitting is more labour than parts especially the electrics.

It is probably cheaper to get a new one but you can save a fortune going to Towsure not vauxhall or another specialist fitter.

If you ring Vauxhall customer services on Monday, they will tell you. They are very helpful.

If you look at various towbar makers websites you will see the cost of an average towbar & electrics is well under £200 & yet a main dealer will want around £450 for the job-ie £250 labour for about 2 hrs work-or am I missing somthing?--however fitting the electrics on modern cars-I think involves plugging into the ecu & doing computer ajustments-so be careful you dont void your warranty--

another thing of course although tis a matter of opinion--the towbars fitted by the main dealer are genrally the neat swan-neck type with a 13 pin socket--which look loads neater than the towsure bolted up angle iron type--

This website lists the same towbar from 02 on. They also have fitting instructions you can download, although these are for a Witter bar.

Wiring is another matter though.
