Does anyone tow with a Seat Alhambra? I am in the process of changing our Mondeo 2.0 litre tdci ghia (2005) for a Seat Alhambra 2.0 tdci 56 reg (140 bhp), my husband is driving me mad. he loves the Mondeo and not a big fan of MPV, however, practical needs come first as we are both childminders now and need an MPV. We have seen a Seat that we like, my husband thinks it wont be as powerful towing as the Ford? Our outfit is a 2006 Bailey Senator Indiana, I have done a match on whattowcar and it comes in at 83% so the Alhambra is suitable to tow, the question is will it manage the Bailey as good as the Mondeo? Any feedback on how the Seat tows would be greatly appreciated and maybe put his mind at rest or not???
We've just done a couple of hundred miles with an 03 115bhp Alhambra pulling a bailey discovery 400. Pulls it no problem quite happy to cruise at 60 on the motorway in 5th gear, pulls off from a standing start no problem doesn't feel much different to driving solo up until 40mph for some wierd reason. Very stable in wet and windy conditions that we had all weekend including some quite nasty crosswinds on the motorway and still returned very good mpg.
hi
we tow with a bailey pageant with a seat alhambra
1.9 tdi and have not had any probs up to now had the car and van for just over a year and done a few trips on various roads m/way and A roads even managed 6th gear on the m/way we bought the seat for the same reason my wife is also a child minder and thinks the car is ideal for kids during the week and towing at the weekend we would only change to a newer model now
We tow a 25 foot 1600kg lunar with a 130 hp galaxy and it pulls it no problem, getting it to 65mph on the motorway is no problem....and we dont need extention mirrors
Hi we have a 2006 2 liter 140 bhp Seat Alhambra and it goes like a rocket. We can not fault it in any way and it tows really well. The only problem we have had is front tyre wear, but i blame the wife for that.
Thanks for all your reassuring replies, we are picking ours up on Monday, our first outing end of July. looking forward to having all that extra space. Sorry to see the Mondeo go. We bought the Mondeo when it was 1 yr old and have had it 18 months, lost just over £1000 on it so not too bad, thats the reason we wouldnt buy brand new, the Seat is 7months old and £5000 cheaper than a brand newie so makes sense to me not to buy a new one? The ex demos are good value.
